Upper Mustang Trek

Our representative staff will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to hotel. We will have welcome dinner at night and shortly our trek guide will discuss about the trek.

We will have breakfast early morning and travel by bus/jeep to Pokhara. It will take us about 6-7 hours of drive as per the road condition to reach Pokhara. You can explore Pokhara like lake side, boating in Phewa Lake. Cycling etc. We will stay overnight at hotel.

We will have breakfast early morning and take domestic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The porters, who are necessary for high-altitude trekking in the area, will be introduced to you in Jomsom.  The flight duration will be around 20 minutes. After reaching Jomsom, we will be able to view beautiful Nilgiri Himal and it will be windiest in the day time. We will start our trekking towards Kagbeni that will take us about 4 hours of walk. Kagbeni is considered as the gateway to Lo-manthang. We will enjoy delicious dinner and stay night at Tea house.

We will have breakfast at Kagbeni. After checking in at Kaagbeni for our special permit, we will head back toward Chele. It will take us about 5-6 hours to ascend the Chele. The trail take us along the Kali Gandaki River.  We first travel to Tangbe village, where we can see the fields of apples, wheat and barley adding beauty to the white-washed houses.  After crossing Kaligandaki River we will arrive at Chele after passing some small ridges. We will spend overnight at tea house.

After having fine breakfast we will trek to Syangboche for 6-7 hours. We will pass through Eklo Bhatti.  After crossing Taklam La Pass, we will reach to Samar village from where we will climb a ridge and descend into a giant gorge.  After passing streams and ridges, we will reach to Syangboche. We will stay overnight at tea house.

We will begin our trek after breakfast, pass Yamdala Pass and head towards Nii Pass.We will pass through the Tibetan influence teahouses and descend towards Ghami. In about 6 hours we will reach Ghami.  Ghami is one of Lo Manthang's biggest settlements.  We will rest night at tea house.

After having breakfast at Ghami, we will trek about 5-6 hours to Charang . Charang is the driest place of Mustang. We will pass through Ghami Khola, plateau, mani walls to reach Charang. In Charang, we can able to see the spectacular view of the mountains from all side. We will rest for the night at tea house.

We will hike to Lo-Manthang after breakfast, which should take us 4 to 5 hours to complete.  We'll keep hiking through breathtaking scenery that includes Annapurna, Nilgiri, Bhrikuti Peak, Dhaulagiri, and other peaks. We will go through the stunning red and white Sungda Chorten on our way to Lo-Manthang. At last, we will reach Lo-Manthang, where we can enjoy a broad perspective of the Lo-Mangthang valley.  Village is renowned for its gompas, tall whitewashed mud-brick walls, and the five-story, nine-cornered Raja's or Royal or King's Palace, which dates back to approximately 1400.

Today we will explore Lo-Manthang after having breakfast. Lo-manthang is a plateau between Annapurna mountain range and Dhaulagiri Range. Lo-manthang is surrounded by the forts built in the middle ages and the small streets are surrounded by the white colored houses built with stones. The traditions and cultures of Loba are similar with the middle and western Tibet.

Although foreign travelers have been permitted entry into the kingdom since 1992, there were only little more than 2000 foreign visitors to Upper Mustang in 2008. We will explore the famous monasteries like Jampa Monastery, Thupchen Monastery, Chode Gompa and four-stored royal palace, jhong cave in Chhosar. The Jhong cave has 40 rooms inside. The culture of sky burial still alive in places of Upper Mustang. We will stay overnight returning to the tea house. 

We are going to depart for Dhamkar after breakfast. Our journey will begin with a strenuous climb up to Chogo La. We will be rewarded for our hike with a breathtaking view of Lo-manthang and Charang Valley, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. Walking for 6 to 7 hours will bring us to the lovely village of Dhamkar. We are going to spend the night in a tea house.

We will trek down to Syangboche with the stunning view of the mount Dhaulagiri and mount Nilgiri and other peaks.  We will trek down through Ghami village, Nya La Pass and Jhaite to reach Syangboche. We will spent the night at tea house.

We will trek down to Chhusang after 4-5 hours of walking from Syangboche. We will pass through Ranching Chungs cave, Samare, Djong La Pass and Taklam La. Chhusang  is encircled by huge cliffs that are red, orange, and silver gray in color and dotted with cave homes. We will be staying at the tea house for the night.

We will trek down to Jomsom from Chhusang walking about 4-5 hours. We will enjoy the Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountain views. We can shop the antique pieces of ornaments in Jomsom. We will stay night at tea house of Jomsom.

About 20 minutes of flight from Jomsom we will reach to Pokhara. At Pokhara, we refresh our body and visiting the various places like lakesides, David falls, Mahendra cave or other places in our spare time. 

After having breakfast, we will drive back to Kathmandu. We will reach in about 6-7 hours from Pokhara. We will have farewell dinner at the evening and we will handover you the trek completion certificate.

Our staff members will be available to drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport on the day of your departure. We'll bid each other farewell and look forward to sharing more adventures in the future.
